Ford produced the 2001 Ford Mustang BULLITT GT for a limited run and was only available in 2001. This was made under licence, to pay homage and tribute to the classic 1968 film BULLITT, which starred Steve McQueen, as the character Lt. Frank BULLITT. Bullitt movie.

Ford produced the most in green, 3041 in code PY Dark Highland Green, 1818 in Black and 723 in the new for 2001, L2 True Blue. As You can see I went for the True Blue.

I have lost count how many times people say to me, "Yeah but the real BULLITT was green." Sorry folks the real BULLITT was a character in a movie, Lt. Frank Bullitt and he was sort of flesh looking to me!

The car he drove in the movie was a 1968 Ford Mustang fastback, over time it was distorted to be called the "BULLITT" Mustang because Lt Frank Bullitt drove it.

This is the first "Real" BULLITT Mustang because Ford made it under licence from, Warner Brothers and the McQueen family.
